We’ve just wrapped up Week 2, and I have to say—it’s been such a great start to the year! Walking through classrooms, I see students working hard, helping each other, and settling into routines with big smiles on their faces. Our teachers are doing an amazing job creating warm, welcoming spaces for learning, and it really shows. I’m so proud of the positive energy all around our school. 🌟

Looking ahead, we’ve got some fun events on the calendar that I know our students and families will enjoy. This Friday is our Back to School Glow Dance 💃🕺—a chance for kids to celebrate, connect, and kick off the year with some fun. Next week, we’ll welcome grandparents and grandfriends for our Parade of Grands 👵👴, which is always such a special tradition.
I’m excited for everything this school year has in store, and I’m so thankful for the support and encouragement you give your kids every day. Together, we’re building not just a strong school year, but wonderful memories too.

Nurse Consent Forms
Nurse Consent Forms were sent home with students. Please review, complete, and return the form as soon as possible . Without a signed consent form on file, our school nurse will not be able to treat or see your child for any health concerns during the school day. 📝
Dismissal Update
Important Dismissal Update – Beginning Monday
To help keep our dismissal process running smoothly and safely for everyone, we’re making a small change starting Monday.
🚗 Families will no longer be able to park in the lot and walk up to the gym doors for pick-up. Instead, if you’d like to pick up your child at the gym, please use the car rider line like all other families. This helps us keep traffic flowing and ensures everyone’s safety.
🚶‍♂️ If you’d prefer not to go through the car rider line, you’re welcome to have your child designated as a walker. Walkers will be dismissed through the front doors of the building at dismissal time.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work together to make dismissal safe, smooth, and fair for all families. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community! 💙
Energy Drinks
As a reminder, energy drinks are not allowed at school.  The beverages can disrupt learning and have negative effects on student health.  During the school day, the only beverage permitted in classrooms is water.  We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe, healthy, and focused learning environment.
MAP Testing
This week, students in grades 2–6 will begin their MAP testing. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will take their MAP tests next week, September 1–5. MAP testing helps us identify where each student is academically at the beginning of the year, so teachers can better support their individual learning and growth. Please help your child do their best by making sure they get a good night’s sleep and arrive at school on time. 🌟
Minor Behavior Documentation
This year, we are continuing to focus on clear communication between home and school regarding student behavior. Minor behaviors (those that are managed by the classroom teacher) will be documented using a minor form. If your child receives a minor, an envelope with the form will be sent home. We ask that a parent or guardian review and sign the form, then return it to school the following day. This process helps keep families informed while giving students the opportunity to learn and grow from their choices.
PE Schedule Reminder

👟 PE Day Reminder
To help your child participate safely and comfortably in PE Class, please make sure they wear tennis shoes on their scheduled PE day. Proper footwear helps prevent injuries and allows students to fully enjoy all activities. You’ll find the PE schedule listed below — thank you for helping us keep our students safe and ready to move!

Parade of Grands
Parade of Grands – Celebrating Grandparents Day! 👴👵🎉
We’re excited to celebrate our amazing grandparents with a special Parade of Grands on Thursday, September 4 at 9:00am in the Circle Drive! 🚗✨
Grandparents are invited to decorate their vehicles and join the parade, while our students line the drive to cheer them on. 🎶💛
👉 As Grands arrive, they can line up down Webster St. before the parade begins.
Let’s make this a joyful morning full of smiles, creativity, and appreciation for all the wonderful grandparents in our school community! 🌟
Veteran's Day Parade
🎺🇺🇸 We are excited to share that the 20th Annual Veteran’s Day Parade will take place on Tuesday, November 11 at 1:00pm on Main Street. This special community tradition is a wonderful opportunity to honor and celebrate the service of our veterans. Our students will be participating in the parade, and we encourage families to help their children begin practicing their songs at home so they can sing with confidence and pride on the big day!

Kindergarten Spotlight
🍎 Kindergarten – Our littlest learners are off to a great start! They worked on the letters m and a and started learning some new sight words. Big steps toward becoming strong readers!
First Grade
🔎 First Grade – Curiosity was the theme this week! Students explored a variety of tools by observing their shapes, textures, and designs, then experimenting to see how they work. It was a wonderful way to connect careful observation with real-world use while practicing safe exploration.
Second Grade
📖 Second Grade – Students read The Invisible Boy and shared thoughtful discussions and writing about why the main character felt invisible. They also practiced skip counting, looked for key details in stories, and worked on writing about the beginning, middle, and end of a story.
Third Grade
💡 Third Grade – In reading, students practiced making inferences using the Notice & Wonder strategy, then applied their thinking in short response writing with the books Rain School and Waiting on the Biblioburro. Students reflected on the challenges characters faced and shared their favorite parts of the stories. In math, they've been building a strong foundation for multiplication with arrays and equal groups.
Fourth Grade
📖 Fourth Grade – In ELA, students continued exploring poetry and even acted out a poem to bring it to life! In science, Ms. Henshaw’s class started with the challenge of “Saving Fred,” then learned about systems and used solar panels to power a fan. In math, students began learning about place value and number forms while practicing whole-brain movements to help remember!
Fifth Grade
🚂 Fifth Grade – Students took a virtual train ride to connect with their reading of Esperanza Rising. They also had their first guidance class of the year, where they learned calming strategies to use at school and at home.
Sixth Grade
Sixth Grade – Our oldest students have been diving into Percy Jackson and exploring Greek mythology in reading. In math, they’ve been working on building a strong foundation with ratios.
